While funny, that's actually even more absurd than funny, with these Stormtroopers literally standing around waiting for non-white delivery guys/gals to bicycle by so they can racially profile them for arrest. There's no plan, no organization, no logic, no need. Just racism, pure and simple.

For people who've never been to Chicago, that's the lower floors of one of the distinctive 65-story, corncob-shaped Marina City towers shown at the beginning of the video, to the right. The Steve McQueen film, The Hunter, featured a car chase and a plunge into the Chicago River.

When I was a seminary student in Chicago back in the late seventies, I’d walk thru that area every day as I headed to work as a waiter in a downtown Loop restaurant.

There's no plan, no organization, no logic, no need. Just racism, pure and simple.

The sad thing is, many of those guys probably think they are patriots, doing the right thing. They don't realize how they have been indoctrinated. They don't realize the nature of the regime they are serving.

Ever see "The Wilby Conspiracy"? It was made in the 70s, set in South Africa. Nicol Williamson plays an officer in the national police. There are a couple scenes where he strongly defends apartheid, and he gives the sense that he is so thoroughly indoctrinated, he really believes what he is saying. The scene I remember is the one where he talks about protecting a Christian civilization from the chaos that goes on in much of the rest of Africa. Williamson's is really a tragic character, because he is so sure he is in the right. I'm afraid a lot of troops and Border Patrol are going to be led down the same path.

Just today, I stumbled across this video of the two screenwriters of that film. Starting at the 1:15 mark, they talk about how they ramped up the pro-apartheid view, and why.
