Been a while...stumbled my way into this.
I achieved FIRE status recently, after a 35-year DoD arc that started before I could vote, and ended after two wars, three deployments to those, four trips overseas with POTUS, troops deployed over 24k days total, 9 years jumping out of planes (and as they say, if your main doesn't open you have the rest of your life to activate your reserve), and mostly great memories.
My largest holdings have been indices (that's about the best you can do in the TSP, and I know myself well enough to know I'm not *that* famed for alacrity in stock selection). But some significant buys into Apple when Steve Jobs was still alive are a significant piece of why I can unplug before I can tap into qualified accounts. Yes, I know about SEPPs, just sayin'.
About 15 years ago Apple passed Berkshire as my largest holding, and has run like Usain Bolt in gapping their lead further from other selections. I first used their products 43 years ago - and still have a printout from that era. Their ecosystem is so sticky that I've not had a Windows product plugged in for about 20 years. I tried an Android device. It's fine, it does what you need it to. But it simply wasn't as elegant or smooth or integrated. I must have 20 things made by Apple in the house that connect to the internet. Even the dog is wired in - Air Tag on the collar.
So here's to Apple, who was my Prometheus, and brought me FIRE.

Nicely put, and welcome!
I remember you from the old good TMF boards, and am glad you found your way here
(IIRC, in a month or two it will also be 25 yrs for me since I put the large majority of my 401(K) in a single share of BRK.A)
Anyhow: good to see you, and again welcome to the best little boardhouse on the web -
