What's the fallout if Trump successfully removes the Chairman?
Does he bot understand markets and confidence?

I read today that fear of a market crash is the only thing preventing him from firing Powell.
But with Trump you never know. Once he gets wind of that assessment, he may fire Powell just to show that he is fearless.

It's bonkers he's even talking about it, markets are all about confidence. Market turmoil, higher bond yields and a faster depreciating dollar to come imo.

“While the President appoints the Fed Chairman, legal interpretations and historical precedent strongly suggest that the President does not have the authority to fire the Chairman simply due to policy disagreements. The Fed's independence is a key principle.
The law indicates that members of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, including the Chairman, can only be removed "for cause." Historically, "for cause" has been interpreted as meaning misconduct or incapacity, not policy disagreements.”
