An escalator stopped at the U.N. General Assembly as President Trump and the first lady were arriving Tuesday morning. MAGAts immediately suspected a plot to assassinate the president or, at the very least, that the stoppage was a deliberate plot to embarrass Trumpedo.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt suggested UN staff members have joked that they may turn off the escalators and elevators and simply tell him they ran out of money, so he has to walk up the stairs.
When Trumpedo took to the podium to address the general Assembly, the teleprompter malfunctioned, prompting additional suggestions of malicious intent. “These are the two things I got from the United Nations - a bad escalator and a bad teleprompter," Trumpedo said.
Of course it’s the White House’s responsibility to operate the teleprompter for the president.
U.N. spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said a readout of the escalator's central processing unit indicated it "had stopped after a built-in safety mechanism on the comb step was triggered at the top of the escalator."
He said Trump's videographer had been traveling backwards up the escalator to capture his arrival with First Lady Melania Trump.
"The videographer may have inadvertently triggered the safety function," Dujarric said in a statement. "The safety mechanism is designed to prevent people or objects accidentally being caught and stuck in or pulled into the gearing."Anywho, republicans immediately began being assholes.
Tim Burchett called for defunding the UN.
