Goebbels would admire the modern GOP.

This week, Republicans have tried to rewrite the four years of Trump’s presidency as a time of unparalleled peace, prosperity and tranquility: “the strongest economy in history,” as Senator Katie Britt of Alabama put it. The difference between Trump and Biden? “President Trump honored the Constitution,” said Gov. Kristi Noem of South Dakota. Gov. Glenn Youngkin of Virginia offered Mr. Trump’s first term as an example of “common-sense conservative leadership.”

Come on Trumpers...even you can see this isn't even close to true. "Trump honored the Constitution"!! OMG the brazen lies. But given MAGA's cultish mindset, they know they can get away with the most extreme lies.

Trump couldn't be bothered to read the Constitution. He didn't have the patience to have someone read it TO him. He has no use for our Constitution.

The record of what Mr. Trump actually did in office bears little resemblance to that description. Under his leadership, the country lurched from one crisis to the next, from the migrant families separated at the border to the sudden spike in prices caused by his trade war with China to the reckless mismanagement of the Covid pandemic. And he showed, over and over, how little respect he has for the Constitution and those who take an oath to defend it.

Here's a timeline that exposes how ludicrous the GOP attempt to rewrite history is. I know...MAGAs won't give a shit.

Shared article.

Thanks. But about these shared NYT articles... It seems that whatever I do I get presented with an obtrusive "subscribe and pay" window that always blocks the article, even after logging in with my free access account. The only way around it has been to switch to "reader view" in my browser, which just presents the text and images without all the extra whiz-bang html structure. What am I missing?

Hmmm, that's odd. Not sure why it's doing that. Next time I'll see if there is another way to share articles.

BTW, both NYT and WAPO are only charging $4 per month for a digital subscription. For the first year. At the end of the year, I unsubscribe and then they offer $4/month again.

It needs to get down to $1/month for me to even consider it. Until then, I'll make due with all the free articles. 😊
