https://thinc.blog/2025/06/26/pentagon-blocks-sate...

As climate impacts and weather extremes become more destructive, military resources globally have become more involved in responding to and mitigating impacts of stronger storms, flooding and droughts.

Among those resources, US and other nations satellite technology has been particularly critical in forecasting hurricane track and strength.
Pentagon now withdrawing critical data from Hurricane hunters.

Hurricane season runs to November 30th. All I can say to the Southern MAGA is to have your
plan dialed in, as even right-winger DeSantis says to expect ZERO help from the Feds.

So I guess it's good that MAGA is all about pulling oneself up by your bootstraps.
The odds are high that y'all gonna get a chance to display to the rest of the Country
how self sufficient you are. But MAGA knows all that, they voted for it. So I'll
be pullin for y'all ( from the sidelines, I know you don't want any help from
non-MAGA ) if and when a 'cane hits ya.

Fun question: How much has Florida budgeted to replace FEMA expenditures? Zero ???

No state help, don't pay state taxes. Fair trade-off, IMO. Especially in Florida.

I read a few years ago that even while the politicians were denying climate change, the military was making arrangements to protect their bases. As I recall, they were even relocating a naval base because the current one will be underwater in 50 years. East coast, IIRC.

The military can't afford to play games. They need to adapt to whatever present itself, or they will fail in their mission.

The rule of thumb used to be 3 days. You need enough first aid, food, supplies, and water for three days till help arrives. Now it's two weeks. Our sprinkler is on a well, so I'm thinking about adding a manual pump to it and using filters. They make some ace filters now. I'm not a prepper, I'm just responsible.
