Just wondering if Signal has a feature to prevent inadvertent users from being invited to a chat. Can restricted groups of users be set up in advance? Do password protected threads exist?

If it doesn't such a facility, that alone should be reason enough to ban its use for ANY government discussions.

Out of curiosity, I installed the Signal appl on my phone and set up my account with a long username that I chose.

Then I created a group and was able to "invite" the random username I entered to join it. Yikes!

Still looking at the other security options, if there are any.
