For those wondering, Greenland themselves signed the deal. For those saying "we already had this" you should read the original agreement:

Oh I agree, there are a few things in this one that weren’t in the last one.

For instance: there’s a clause saying that only NATO countries can have bases in Greenland, and that if Greenland decides to go independent, then the agreement remains in effect.

Now think about that for a moment.

We have bases in Greenland. We are a member of NATO. But somebody I know has talked about leaving NATO, how they don’t do anything for us, “where were they when we needed them”, and so on.

So if Rip One Van Winkle should decide to exit the alliance, and if Republicans were stupid enough not to oppose him (they are), then oops, we can ‘t have ANY bases in Greenland. Not the one we have now, not any of the sixteen others we used to have. NONE. Zero. Zilch.

Looks like the TrumpsterFire just negotiated himself into being locked into NATO.
