The Felon is reversing the policy on plastic drinking straws because....spite? Experts-are-always-wrong? Who knows.

This article emphasized the single-use plastic aspect. Which is certainly valid, IMO. But as we learn more about micro- and nano-plastics, I'm more concerned about the potential health effects of that. Just read a study in which they were finding nano-plastics in brain matter. Too early to see if it causes actual health problems, but at the very minimum they shouldn't be there.

Though the executive order aims to "alleviate the forced use of paper straws nationwide," according to a White House fact sheet, plastic straw bans and restrictions will remain in effect in cities and states across the country.

Yeah, so states can still do what they like. Perhaps this was more of a publicity stunt than an actual agenda priority.

A lot of what Trump does is publicity stunts. He's following the advice from Bannon way back before his first term: Flood the zone with shit.

When you flood the zone with useless garbage, it takes time for your opposition to sort out the important from the unimportant. And you can bait them into getting worked up over stupid but completely unimportant things. If they get worked up over everything, you wear out your opposition so that when you actually try to do something important, they may miss it or just think of it as another bit of unimportant stupidity. And having been worked up over so many things already, ordinary folk will tire of getting concerned.

Keep your eye on the important things - the degradation of our republic - and let stupid shit like this go. The next 4 years are a marathon and not a sprint. Save your energy for the latter part of the race when it will be most needed.

No he's not. He's just reversing the current order. So now there won't be non-plastic straws. How is that democratic? He's replaced one edict with a different edict. Apparently you agree with the latest edict, but it's still an edict.
