Immediately after President Biden endorsed Kamala Harris, money has kept pouring in from supportive donors. Act Blue is reporting that the Harris for President campaign has raised $46 million just today. Her entrance into the Presidential race is raising a lot of excitement nationally, particularly among younger voters. As it should. Americans no longer have to choose between two octogenarians.
Listen, don't try to put a "liberal" label on me. I reject these labels. I have supported good Republican Presidential candidates in the past, including Ronald Reagan and the late great John McCain. However, I have said many times that any candidate I vote for must have a moral compass and integrity.
And many good Republicans agree with me. Republicans had no problem throwing out George Santos from Congress. He's due to go on trial for fraud. Similarly, I want Democratic Senator Bob Menendez to get expelled after he was found guilty of bribery. C'mon already. Why is he even allowed to be there right now?
No way I'm going to vote for Trump - a convicted felon, adjudicated rapist and a man under arrest for racketeering and conspiracy to overturn an election. A traitor who sent a mob to the Capitol and did nothing while his crazed followers assaulted 140 police officers, broke in and threatened to hang Mike Pence.
Kamala Harris went from U.C law school graduate to San Francisco DA to Attorney General of California to US Senator to US Vice President. She's tough on crime, and she's the embodiment of the American dream.
I can see her running a campaign where young people in the "uncommitted" camp, especially in Michigan, would vote for her over Biden. She's also going to be very helpful in swing states like Georgia. For working class people, she'll remind voters that it's the Democratic party that pushed for a higher national minimum wage, and it was her party's President who marched in solidarity with union workers. For the middle class, she'll campaign on her administration's record of the longest streak of record low unemployment, a record high stock market, and 15 million jobs created. On inflation, she can point to wage growth having beaten inflation for 12 straight months, prices for many goods coming down last month, and policies she'll continue such as lowering prescription drug prices.
I'm pumped. Let's join hands and do this. We're going to have a President Harris in the White House next year.

I have supported good Republican Presidential candidates in the past, including Ronald Reagan and the late great John McCain. However,
Many of us were once conservative, and labels don't mean that much, most thinkers are an eclectic bunch. But just from analyzing this group,we have WTH, Commonone, and Albaby - and Albaby has been a great source for knowledge about how politics works well in advance of the event here.
Albaby told us the worst outcome was Biden staying on, we would lose the Presidency and down ballot if Biden stayed. Losing down ballot as they become dragged down with Biden. The best outcome was Biden throwing to Harris and Harris becoming the nominee. We stood a good chance of keeping the down ballot and having some effect (counter balancing)as the power to impeach is one way - not very effective though. We do this before the Convention. Harris is legitimate in every state as she primaried with Biden, so good protection against lawsuits.
The last way was an open convention with free-for-alls (My description) for a couple of weeks until we choose a nominee. Chaos, with an attempt at unity at the end of the convention. We tarnish some of the players as they get tarred with knocking off Biden.
So with Biden throwing to Harris we now can unite behind Harris earlier than the convention and we need to buttress our down ballot.
But I do agree with Commonone that Trump is more of a wild card than we want in the opposition - we know he will bend DOJ to have investigations of people he doesn't like (revenge), he will more likely spy on folks, deportation shows will be ongoing - it will be interesting to see how the courts handle this, and we are likely to see new methods tried for monetizing being the President.
Odd bit of trivia - we had other countries shipping us their "suspicious" Japanese during WW2- we got a bunch from Peru, etc., . When the war was over, we shipped them to Japan. These Peruvian Japanese were not welcome in recovering Japan. Our history with internment camps is not good.
