I wish the Republicans weren't proceeding with actual articles. I understand starting an impeachment inquiry when it is necessary to compel compliance with subpoenas, but using this tool on a cabinet secretary in this context is pointless because we know he is just faithfully implementing Biden policy and would be replaced with a carbon copy.
As far as lying to congress is concerned, well yeah, unfortunately we see that all the time. Lying to congress usually results in no consequences, especially when the lie is being told by a fellow politician.
Mayorkas seems to me like a simple fellow who has not mastered the art of answering a question with a pseudo-truth/lie blend with the same ease and aplomb as that of an experienced politician.

Completely agree. Mayorkas is NOT a SecDHS. He is a lightning rod.
He is NOT running the ship, calling the shots. He is doing exactly as he's told, from the openly lying to taking all the arrows thrown at him.

The benefit of impeaching Mayorkas is that during the run-up and in the show you can put the entire Biden admin border policy on trial, then count all the democrats who will vote to not impeach as supporters of said bad policy.
Then use that against the ones who are up for re-election in November. With the way the polls are trending and the fact that the border is one of THE top issues this cycle...that will be painful for them.
