King Donald won 70% of votes in West Virginia and has cut a $500 million program for food banks to buy local produce that is kicking in the teeth of small farm operators in the state.

The phone rang over the whine of Trey Yates' butter churn. The person calling was polite, but the message was devastating: Mountaineer Food Bank was ending Yates' butter contract, due to the federal government's funding cuts.

The next day, President Donald Trump signed a declaration celebrating National Agriculture Day, praising farmers and food makers like Yates. But the canceled contract with the federally funded food bank, one of only two in West Virginia, had been a lifeline for Yates' business.

Yates was shocked that the Trump administration would take such action. Yates called his father to tell him: "Dad, they're trying to bankrupt me."

Sorry, Trey, but ETTD and there's going to be a lot more of that going around. We'll see tomorrow if King Donald is going to stick to his guns and enact those 20% tariffs.

What's the over/under on him wimping out and pushing them out another month?

my sympathy goes out to the 30% who didn't vote for him. For the 70% who did, cry me a river.
We are all gonna feel the pain of a Trump reign, but the Trump red hats really need to feel
the consequences of their vote.

It's almost certain that some type of natural disaster is going to hit parts of the South.
FEMA will be gutted soon, I imagine. I await the reactions of the southern Trump supporters.
Gonna be hard to blame Biden ( but of course they will ).

Well if it's true, then it has begun.

I've said multiple times that my side wants to elect Democrats.

Well, here we go.

Sheesh. I sure hope Dems nominate someone good this time.

Like whom? Just curious. No one comes to mind for me. I would love Warren, but I don't think she could win. It would be tough, for sure.

Well, if Trump runs in 2028, then I'd say Obama.

I think AOC will run for Schumer's seat in the Senate to gain more experience and expect she'll run in the future but not '28.

Possible candidates: Chris Murphy, Tim Walz, Wes Moore, Andy Beshear, Maura Healey, Gretchen Whitmer, and Josh Shapiro.

I don't see Harris winning the nomination, nor Newsom.

I think the best candidate -- and best president -- would be Buttigieg but think he'd have to be on a ticket as VP first. Too much homophobia in America.

I still like Cory Booker or Buttigieg. But I'm stuck in 2020...

Newsom would have trouble winning his home state these days, and that goes back longer than some people think. There was a reason why some Republicans on this board were suggesting that the Dems should run Newsom this past election, when it was a question. From a Nov. 7, 2023 LA Times article:

https://www.latimes.com/politics/story/2023-11-07/...

SACRAMENTO — Gov. Gavin Newsom’s standing among California voters has hit an all-time low, with 49% disapproving of his performance as governor, according to a new UC Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies poll co-sponsored by the Los Angeles Times.

The survey showed Newsom’s popularity has tumbled this year as he continues to amplify his national profile and campaign outside of the Golden State to support President Biden and attack Republican governors and their conservative political agendas.

Newsom’s approval rating was 44% in the late October poll, an 11-point slide from February when 55% of voters approved of his performance. His disapproval among California voters increased 10 percentage points from earlier this year.

I don't think Newsom will be the guy in 2028. He would have a lot of work to do to get there.
