"One in Three Republicans Now Think Donald Trump Was Wrong Candidate Choice"...

"Trump does not command the full support of his base and 33% of this demographic would have preferred another politician.
Meanwhile, this proportion is higher (47%) among Republican voters aged 18-34 years old."

"Since his guilty verdict, some Republicans have come out against Trump."

https://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-republican-c...

Wow, looks like 1 in 3 Republicans don't want to support a "total loser"...

2020 Election: Donald Trump loses.
NY Fraud Case: Donald Trump loses.
First E. Jean Carroll Case: Donald Trump loses.
Second E. Jean Carroll Case: Donald Trump loses.
Hush Money Election Interference Case: Donald Trump loses.

I'm waiting for any of the righties on this board to come out publicly and say they won't support Trump.

Will they?

The pull of the cult is almost irresistible.

No chance. They have wasted countless hours of their lives defending him, admitting what a grave mistake that was would be far too painful to acknowledge, even to themselves.

I seriously doubt it. What misconception do you point to that gives you the impression this might be the case?

Yup, this. Requests like this are demands to publicly shame or hold some kind of struggle sessions. The kind of thing Maoists like to do.

Over here in Reality World, we had a Republican Presidential primary. I don't recall who your #1 was, but mine was DeSantis and I was very vocal about that. But RonD finished second and dropped out, leaving Trump as the presumptive nominee.

So as you've said, that leaves us with a choice:

Door #1: Support the senile old fool who, on the best days of his life, is a plagiarizing, influence peddling moron who has gotten every major foreign policy choice in the last 40+ years wrong.
Door #2: Support the convicted felon who was a wizard at foreign policy and who had a far better economy that Biden.

Hmm...<thinks for a second>...let's see.

Oh, right. It's not even close. Door #2. Enthusiastically.

Now cue the wringing of hands, the gnashing of teeth, tearing of garments and various flavors of HOW COULD YOU! yOu'Re In A cUlT! or similar levels of stupidity.

Never.

Let's review the many off ramps open to those here who have blindly remained traveling on the convicted felon's golden highway:

-- Convicted felon Donald Trump failed to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic which killed hundreds of thousands of people. As the Lancet Commission wrote, “many of the cases and deaths were avoidable,” but “instead of galvanizing the US populace to fight the pandemic, President Trump publicly dismissed its threat (despite privately acknowledging it), discouraged action as infection spread, and eschewed international cooperation.”

-- A few republicans here have repeatedly criticized former president Obama and president Biden for drone strikes and civilian deaths yet casualties from U.S. drone bombings rose significantly under convicted felon Donald Trump and the administration buried evidence of their crimes. Trump’s support for the Saudi war in Yemen enabled horrendous atrocities. He launched indiscriminate bombing campaigns in Syria and Iraq.

-- Convicted felon Donald Trump has repeatedly bragged about the elimination of Roe, only possible thanks to Trump-appointed judges, which will harm and kill women. He has suggested he will support a federal ban on abortion and approves of prison time for women who have abortions and for medical care providers who perform abortions.

-- As president Biden visits France to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day, convicted felon Donald Trump is on record calling American war dead suckers and losers.

-- Convicted felon Donald Trump refused to admit defeat in 2020, and weeks before election day claimed it was rigged. For the first time in history, he, the outgoing president, refused to attend his successor's inauguration.

-- Convicted felon Donald Trump urged his supporters to come to Washington on January 6 and take back their country. He incited his cult to march to the U.S. Capitol and egged on their violence by tweeting that the vice president had failed them.

-- Convicted felon Donald Trump was found liable for sexual assault.

-- Convicted felon Donald Trump was found liable for defamation.

-- Convicted felon Donald Trump bribed witnesses who might testify against him.

-- Convicted felon Donald Trump pardoned several felonious co-conspirators to gain their silence.

-- Convicted felon Donald Trump even pardoned Steve Bannon, a man found guilty of stealing millions of dollars from Trump's own supporters.

-- Convicted felon Donald Trump removed cartons of government property, including more than 100 to the nation's most top secret classified documents, claimed he didn't have them, was subpoenaed, raided, and then falsely claimed all the documents had been returned. He then obstructed efforts to get back top secret documents he still retained after leaving them unprotected in a publicly accessible bathroom and on a ballroom stage.

-- Convicted felon Donald Trump, umm, well, this list could go on and on and on.

Infrastructure Week, anyone? Mexico will pay for a wall? Gold sneakers? NFTs? He'll withdraw from NATO? Tried to extort Ukraine?

Almost every one of his former top level cabinet officials have refused to endorse him and have said he should never be president again.

His own vice president said he will not vote for him.

So, no... the cult is either too stupid or too brainwashed to ever abandon their Orange Jesus.

And Biden wears funny shoes.

Conservatives are nuanced and discerning. So it takes work to get them behind Trump or whomever else.

Unlike Liberals who shunned all the diverse candidates and went with the Big Bank Darling Old White Male.

Of course Biden’s administration makes a much better choice on a host of issues, the most important being if you believe in American values and the preservation of our republic’s democracy.

Trump has nothing to offer except his own avarice.

I actually preferred Vivek but pragmatically he was just too new, too little name recognition, to have much of a chance. Desantis was my second choice, along the theory of getting mostly MAGA policies without the Trump drama. But I am happy with Trump. Desantis and Vivek will get their turn. The Republicans have a young and strong bench.

Yep! The GOP has a number of high-name recognition pols with executive experience. How many people have heard of any democrat governors outside of Hochul and Newsom? And how many people think they're doing an amazing job? Pretty much no one.

You made a comment upthread about GOP voters and nuanced choices. The GOP primary, both this time and last time featured a diverse slate of candidates who...didn't agree on everything - many had vastly different approaches to problems. When was the last time you would see that on the democrat side of the field? The answer is, decades. Ideologically they all agree on the same things with the same rewarmed proggie ideals. The only difference is the degree to which they'd implement their "ideas" and how far down the toilet the nation would be flushed.

Maybe it takes :10 to type a response, but it doesn't take as much as 10 seconds to understand a Dope post is just more smoke from his altar-of-the-orange-cult.
