Just saw on the news that a bill has been passed out of the Texas Senate that will require the Ten Commandments be displayed in every classroom in Texas in a font large enough to be legible from anywhere in the room. The bill goes to the House, which skews Republican 83 to 67, so the bill will no doubt pass and then off to Gov Abbott who will sign it.
Things like this just stir up controversy and division and provide the Democrats to an easy argument to bash the Republicans, who deserve it in this case. Religious education is something that parents can include in rearing their children if they are so inclined, but the state had no business getting involved. This sleeping dog should have been left alone.
No doubt after stirring up a lot of rancor, it will be shot down in court. And for what, a brief moment of virtue signaling to the religious right at the expense of losing other elections that have true impact on all citizens lives regardless of their religion. Bah.

The supreme court already ruled on a similar case over 40 years ago forcing the commandments in schools to be taken down. Perhaps Texas is hoping with the new far right court they can get that ruling overturned as well. <sarcasm> making america great again, one court ruling at a time. </sarcasm>

Agree 100%
So many times, Liberal Taliban - with their intolerance and extremism has helped get out the vote - be it for W Bush, or Trump. All around the country even on local levels. Trans-Al-Qaeda is doing the same.
Social Conservative Taliban did it with Roe v Wade. Instead of it just being a fundraising cry and excuse for sanctimony for people who go to church 1 day a week, and spend 6 days hating the human race.........they made the ban REAL and that alarmed many, even in Red States. People LOVE saying Trump cost Republicans 2022.....it's so idiotic and it's just the Establishment trying to get back in charge. 2022 was lost by the GOP by SMALL margins. Had "ROE" not happened - there was little motivation to come out to vote and Dems would've lost.
As an aside- I am not any division of Christian - but I'd have no problem with 10 commandments written on my kid's classroom walls.
But hey, I guess "lockdown drills" are now more important in American school life.
Probably have to make it a required credit for graduation soon and sadly, everyone will pass.

You can always count on Republicans to stab themselves without any help.
