The GOP continues to trade roles with the Democrats, acting like a herd of kittens and failing to elect a speaker, while Democrats (for, what, the 20th speaker ballot in a row?) vote in unanimity.
Johnson: 216
Jeffries: 215
other MAGA morons: 3

No 2nd vote needed: a few GOPs changed their votes, so Johnson now has 218.
Good. Full speed ahead to screwing America! MAGA!!

That was a bit premature, since they never gaveled the vote closed. Turns out he won on the first vote. Although three members voted for someone else during the first few roll calls, they held the vote open until he was able to persuade two of the three holdouts to change their votes.

Wonder what he had to promise? :)

Apparently, just having C-Span running in the background while I do other things isn't sufficient to catch everything. I thought it was done.
But keeping on top of the GOP is still like herding cats. Had to take a couple of those dissenters out back and give them some personal attention to get their vote in line. And I think the vote is still open, so the possibility for further monkey wrenches is still there, although quite slim at this point.
Wonder what promises Johnson had to make to get those votes changed.

Possibly another perfect phone call from MagALago; a veiled threat is all it takes in the blue suit/long red tie crowd.

not surprised trump supported johnson if the inauguration was at risk of delay.
but will be surprised if he's not dispensable next time.
