He rented a 5'by5' area in a house and registered to vote in that area, submitted altered rental Documents showing he rented the entire home, and claimed he lived in an apartment too. It looks like he claimed three different residence, but it isn't clear to me. A Republican submitted fraudulent documents? No, it cannot be - wait, it's Alabama. OK, seems plausible.
House District 10 Representative David Cole (R-Huntsville) has resigned and signed a plea agreement following his arrest for voting fraud...
Cole was charged with fraud-voting at multiple or unauthorized locations, a Class C felony and booked into the Madison County Jail where he was later released on a $2,500 bond.
According to court documents, Cole 'did knowingly vote in the November 8, 2022, general election at a polling police where he had not been authorized to vote, to wit: within the boundaries of Alabama House District 10...'

Glad to see this. In my opinion, the more of this that is publicized the better. The article doesn't mention jail time but I think at least 30 days in county jail would be in order. The offense was pretty flagrant.

I find it interesting that Republicans have been screaming about "voter fraud" for at least 20 years, and yet in those 20 years most of the offenders are Republicans. Back in the day, the Dems did it, too. But in the 21st century, it seems to be dominated by Republicans.
Even then, it's still onesy-twosy votes, like the woman who lived in a border town between CA and AZ, and voted in both states. A few dozen of those cases is not going to change the outcome, so why bother.
The Trump conspirators -if convicted- were part of a much larger operation that actually could have changed it. Again, the right-wing screams "voter fraud", and they ended up -allegedly- perpetrating the largest fraud we've seen in at least 50 years, if not in the past 250 years of this nation's existence.

I think you mean "attempting". The fact that it did not succeed demonstrates the strength of our system.

Yes. Good catch. It didn't actually work, so they just "attempted".

A few dozen votes will almost never change the outcome in a statewide election (including a Presidential election), or even most federal Congressional elections. But depending on the size of the district, a few dozen votes can be significant in smaller races. That's why many voting shenanigans will more often be seen in local elections (mayoral or city/county commissioners) or in state legislative races, particularly state house elections. It's those smaller races where voter fraud might actually play a role, not the big races.

...in those 20 years most of the offenders are Republicans.
They really believe it is ok for them to cheat because in the right wing authoritarian mindset they are RIGHT and so the end justifies the means. It is all black and white for them; they don't like the give and take of democracy.

They really believe it is ok for them to cheat because ...
Based on the posts of some of the more conservative members of this forum, it appears they believe the democrats perform many illegal actions up to and including assassinations in order to stay in power. It would seem the only way to make it fair is to follow suit and cheat as well.
Until the far right recognizes they are being fed a steady diet of misinformation I don't see this changing.
