It isn't just the money. It isn't just the need for fossil fueled energy. It's data. We have all heard the arguments: "USian personal privacy protections obstruct AI model development. The Chinese have no privacy protections obstructing them. We must beat China, because it's China. Therefore, all USian privacy protections must be eliminated". Anything even remotely resembling a voter lead, democratic political system would not allow "We The People" to be so thoroughly used. Therefore, the democratic system must be displaced by an authoritarian regime.
You need a story that discounts those lives.
As noted, for years, in the eyes of "JCs", Proles are nothing but expendable meat. We have a government run by "JCs", for the benefit of "JCs".
