In this case, I would think part of the ear was "transferred" by the bullet to wherever the bullet landed.

Perhaps. Or perhaps it was just a grazing nick of the skin covering the cartilage. Which makes it a shame no doctor's report has yet been released, and the press is giving Trump a free pass on this fact. Such opacity would NOT be tolerated had this happened to Biden.
