Our noble POTUS imparted words of wisdom to the graduates of West Point. Advice they can carry with them for the rest of their lives.
“…a trophy wife. it didn’t work out too well. but it doesn’t— and that doesn’t work out too well, I must tell you. a lot of trophy wives. doesn’t work out. but it made him happy for a little while, at least. but he found a new wife. he sold his little boat, he got a big yacht, one of the biggest yachts anywhere in the world. he moved for a time to Monte Carlo, but he lived a good life. and time went by and he got bored, and fifteen years later, the company that he sold to called him, and they said, ‘the housing business is not for us.’ you have to understand, when Bill Levitt was hot, when he had momentum, he’d go to the job sites every night. he’d pick up every loose nail. he’d pick up every scrap of wood. if there was a bolt or a screw laying on the ground he’d pick it up.”
A narcissist will be the last person to understand that they are losing it mentally.

Versus Tim Walz message of pride and optimism!!!!
“I’m gonna start with the flashing red light—Donald Trump’s modern-day Gestapo is scooping folks up off the streets,” Walz said. “They’re in unmarked vans, wearing masks, being shipped off to foreign torture dungeons. No chance to mount a defense. Not even a chance to kiss a loved one goodbye. Just grabbed up by masked agents, shoved into those vans and disappeared.”
.
.
.
“It’s not hyperbole to say we’re not far from a world where anyone could get that knock at a door,” Walz continued. “And there’s no guarantee that you’d get your day in court or that you would ever make it home alive from whatever corner of the world they stick you in.”

True.
The masks, the unmarked vans, the being whisked off to foreign dungeons.
What part of that is not true?

“And I know because I rebuilt that army, and I rebuilt the military,” Trump told the crowd. “We rebuilt it like nobody has ever rebuilt it before in my first term.”
What kind of fool believes Trump's bullshit. He lies a lot but he's not good at it.

Even the MAGA dared to criticize his batshit crazy West Point spew:
“Okay you of all people know that I am 1000% in Donald Trump’s corner but my goodness this has been horrible at West Point it is like a lukewarm press conference instead of a pep rally for these people who are the Ultimate Warriors I don’t know if he is tired or what your thoughts.”

you know this 'critical' fool 1000% clapped for trump's speech and would vote for him again, given the chance.
but i wonder how many would let trump specifically direct their combat unit.

I watched the utube clips of the commencement speech at West Point.
What an inspiring speech ! #/sarcasm
Trump is a doddering old fool. The cadets had to be having 2nd thoughts about that doddering
old fool being the one that could put them in harms way based on a whim, much like his
tariff "policy"
I wonder how many cadets knew that Trump weaseled out of serving in Vietnam by having
Daddy Trump find a doctor beholden to him who would write up a fake diagnosis of
bone spurs ?
I wonder how many cadets know that Trump boasted that "avoiding STD's was my Vietnam" ?
I know there is rigorous discipline at West Point, and severe consequences for not
following the rules, but I wonder how many of those graduates wanted to just get up
and walk out on the doddering old fool ?

All of them. Why?
They would be located 2000+ miles AWAY from any potential combat, buried in DEEP HOLES IN THE GROUND. Which they dug, of course. And Spankee keeps telling them to DIG DEEPER !!

Unfortunately, what Walz says is true. Without due process -which the Felon says we can't do**-, there is no protection for any of us. They could just as easily sweep you or me up, and ship us to El Salvador. We would have no recourse because there is no due process, no day in court, no lawyers.
1poorlady lived through that with Ferdinand Marcos. People just "disappeared", never to be heard from again. Argentina had a similar problem (tens of thousands just "disappeared") in the 80s.
It's a sign you live in a totalitarian state. Which you may think is OK, so long as they don't come for you. But you can't be assured of that if there's no due process.
**I've seen the video...he said it

It may be poor optics, but when Dems get control again they need to get those people back. The right-wing will have a conniption, claiming "they're bringing rapists and murderers back", but it needs to be done so that they can have proper adjudication. And if the El Salvador president says he won't do it, we'll have to park an aircraft carrier battle group off his shore and say "are you sure?".
The innocent must go free.
I am curious how much we can hold to account the individuals who did this. For at least the last half of the 20th century, the excuse "I was just following orders" often wasn't good enough. Yes, I'm talking about the individual ICE agents (and others) who knew they were violating rights, and did it anyway. All the way up to Marco Rubio, since the Roberts Court says we can't hold the Felon accountable for anything ever.

No need to hold him accountable. Just arrest him and send him to whichever dictator country wants to take him. No habeas corpus--remember? LOL !!! And his assets are confiscated for failure to pay back taxes, penalties, fraud, etc. GUILTY !! After all, the states where those assets are located get to share in the loot. They CAN'T AFFORD to say no to that much cash.

Violating the law in order to punish someone for breaking the same law may be satisfying, but hardly a solution if you are trying to strengthen the “rule of law”.
This seems to be the conundrum.
Reminds me of Trump’s floated idea of “Let’s let the cops run free for 24 hours- beating and killing the criminals. And after that, we can rein them in.
History suggests that the natural progression of such programs never seems to work out that way.

It might be more apt to compare Trump to Stalin, rather than Hitler.

That is the point. It is NOT violating the law--at least according to Spankee. No habeas corpus per him, so he can't claim it (unless he is the "true coward" he really is). However, he does NOT get the opportunity to claim anything--per him. He is OUT.
