Alpha, I think he's referencing the fact that hush money isn't a crime unless you pay the money to keep the secret from coming our during an election. :) Well... made me smile. And the name Donald Trump could be synonymous with phonying up the bills to make it look like legal payments- but that's reading too much into it I think.

It's enough to make one question any other signs of intelligence. If you can't do a basic screen of obvious facts from blatant lies on the political front, why should anyone think you could do so in any other area? If your judgement can be so terribly colored by political preferences, how do we know that judgement isn't being colored in other areas as well?

I was working in Baton Rouge, LA in 1991 when David Duke nearly won the Governor's race. The "sensible Republican" failed to make the runoff and it was David Duke vs. the serially corrupt Democrat Edwin Edwards. Chamber of Commerce Republicans rallyed around Edwards saying that a David Duke win would cause most of the country to boycott the Louisiana tourism industry. One bumper sticker read "Vote for the Crook. It's Important."
I think Biden is going to need the same kind of public support from Republican business interests to win in November. Otherwise it's time for the Party Bosses to switch horses.
