The headline at the link is misleading and we are a long way from building an actual warp drive. That aside, the article is well written and quite interesting, using magnetism instead of negative energy to warp space moves the physics of warp propulsion into the realm of possibility.

... However, new research indicates that one of Einstein’s theoretical constructs—a warp drive—may not be as impossible as they once thought. A global team of researchers, operating under the Applied Physics tag, has been looking at a new idea called the constant velocity warp drive, which may lead to real warp propulsion within the confines of the physical universe’s laws.

Another article about it:

https://www.space.com/warp-drive-possibilities-pos...

I do note that they are not predicting superluminal travel in any way. It's "high, but subluminal". Still very cool, of course.

We keep getting gold from Einstein's work, over 100 years after he published it. We're still figuring it (i.e. the implications of his theory) all out.

I like this, entering the Warp Age...

Gianni Martire, CEO of Applied Physics, said in the same statement. "We're continuing to make steady progress as humanity embarks on the Warp Age."
