Pepe Le' Pew cancelled for promoting rape culture.
It happened 2 years ago but I just heard about it. Here is the article,
https://www.wfla.com/news/viral-news/goodbye-pepe-...(NEXSTAR) ' You won't be seeing much of the Looney Tunes skunk Pepé Le Pew in future productions, according to multiple reports.
Over the weekend, a New York Times opinion piece called out the cartoon character saying his actions 'normalized rape culture.'
Pepé Le Pew is a French skunk that was often out looking for love from various characters ' but most usually a cat. His actions were often unwanted and aggressive.=======================
One funny comment I read, which is the real reason for this post,
"I'm glad he's cancelled and my children are safe.
Now my son can get back to playing Grand Theft Auto where he just set a hooker on fire so he didn't have to pay her."

1) Trump raped somebody. Have you heard about it?
2) Maybe now we can cancel Trump for promoting rape culture? ("When you're a star they let you do it, you can do anything. Grab them by the p****. You can do anything!" ~Trump)
Thanks, Blessed be the fruit!

Where we draw the line is the tricky bit. I used to watch Pepe (yeah, I'm old). I also remember seeing some cartoons that were...less than flattering...in their depiction of black people. Stereotypical of the era. The latter would be verboten today. They wouldn't dare air it. Is Pepe going too far? Maybe.
Canada several years ago banned a Beatles song because it's lyrics were a bit cringy today ("Run for Your Life").**
The point about GTA is well-taken. I've never played, but I have seen snips from the game. Though GTA is for mature audiences, and Pepe was aimed at 7-yr olds, which factors into the appropriateness of each.
**"run for your life, little girl...catch you with another man, that's the end, little girl".

I never liked 'Run For Your Life', because it was a song I just knocked off. It was inspired from ' this is a very vague connection ' from 'Baby, Let's Play House'. There was a line on it ' I used to like specific lines from songs ' 'I'd rather see you dead, little girl, than to be with another man' ' so I wrote it around that but I didn't think it was that important.

The music was catchy, but the lyrics were questionable. Especially today when we see estranged boyfriends hunting down women and killing them. Or OJ....etc. I'm glad I live in a country where you can't ban a song, but I understand why Canada did it.

One radio station in Ottawa banning "run for you life" is not Canada.

I remember distinctly that the article (several years ago) said "Canada". If it was just a single radio station, that shouldn't even have been a news story in the USA. USA sources don't generally cover minutia of individual radio stations, foreign city mayors, and the like.
