Bad day for Christianity. Last week the Christian faith was invoked throughout the impeachment trial of Ken Paxton, the Texas attorney general who, according to his staff, abused his office in at least 13 different ways. This is the same staff who also testified to their one time admiration and even love for Paxton, their shared hard-right politics, and their shared Christian faith.

This morning, before 30 state senators voted on Paxton's guilt or innocence, and before the daily Christian prayer that starts the proceedings, the otherwise silent Lieutenant Governor, who presided over the trial, felt the need to publicly share that the Senators gather weekly behind the chamber for a Bible study and that the Senators ultimately report to God.
WAPO comments

Deeply cynical and corrupt. Gad, the GOP is just a festering dung heap.
