Just a procedural pondering. The guy was out of control, so it was likely a righteous shoot. But I thought tazers were supposed to be the weapon of choice for situations that didn't involve a perp having a firearm.

It’s not unusual for tasers to be ineffective on people who are high on meth.
He was also inside a patrol car, potentially with access to the rifle officers often carry between the front seats. And the patrol car itself could become a weapon if he got in the drivers seat and took off. That has happened more times than one might think.
