The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

Also, it's marvelous that President Biden and Republicans - agree on how much to spend on defense....more more more. - winston

------------------------

Well it hasn't been officially passed into law yet, so anything can happen. Frankly I am surprised that Biden compromised because I felt pretty the Republicans would tale the heat if the event of a "default" Default in quotes because that is what is advertised even though it not exactly true, all the news channels including even the venerable Fox news use this term, so the masses are never exposed to any deeper understanding.

That aside, Fox was interviewing well known RINO and squishy politician Lindsey Graham on the defense portion of the compromise. Lindsey called it a cut even though it went up because the increase was less than inflation. And then went on in attempt to scare us the the navy would lose 7 ships when we really needed more to slow out falling behind the Chicoms in naval capability. Never was it mentions the pentagon could move money around from say the other branches to give a bigger increases to they navy. All the branches were getting an increase.

Another thing that surprised me was that Biden apparently agreed to adding a work requirement to certain welfare benefits and that has the left upset over that provision. I don't get why there is opposition to require the able bodied to do some work two days a week to remain in the dole.

Anyway each side has reasons to reject the deal because spending less on anything will certainly ruin the country.
