I know you will find this hard to believe, but when Trump said he wouldn't touch the East Wing...he lied.
Trump Is Demolishing the Entire East Wing to Make Room for His Ballroom
President Trump had pledged that the construction for his $200 million project would not touch the East Wing of the White House. The tear-down should be finished by this weekend, an official said.

That’s neat! Out with the old and in with the new.
Quite fitting for President King Trump. 😊

In this case, I assume liberals believe that it’s just awesome to just state dinners in a friggin’ tent.

Umm, there's a State Dining Room that accommodates 140 guests. The East Room accommodates 200.
The last time a temporary pavilion was needed was a State Dinner for Kenya on May 23, 2024. Before that, a State Dinner for Australia on October 25, 2023.
So about once a year. What a horrible, horrible inconvenience.
In short, the dumb among us are the ones who believe this is anything but a grand gesture to satisfy a pathological narcissist.
Imagine the non-stop outrage had Biden or Obama pulled this stunt and demolished a section of the White House.
Jeebus, republicans lost their minds when Obama wore a tan suit in the Oval Office.

Actually it works very well. I lived in Newport Dunes Marina and they had a tent they would put up for special occasions - it was more like a canvas/cloth structure attached to large metal frames and I was in it several times for dinners, entertainment, dancing. It was very large. I wandered in one time and Tom Jones was entertaining some wealthy person for their birthday. If you put on a suit and pretend you belong there, it works many times. :) But no, they can make some tent structures that are very nice.
