If not being an actual part of Europe (as Canada is NOT)is any longer required to join the "European Union", even as an "associate member," why limit it to highly White people countries of European origin like Canada?

Shared interests and values? The US and Canada are not in Europe, but they are members of NATO. In terms of things like socialized heath care, care for the environment, and human rights, Canada is probably closer to Europe than Trump's Shinyland.
