" Trump is stupid, can we all just agree on that? Listen to him in his own words."

That video was very enlightening, but try to focus. What does trump have to do with the obvious question ? Are Biden Harris the best alternative to trump that the Dem parry has to offer us ? Most Americans don't want a Trump Biden rematch, do you pay attention at all ? The 64 BILLION dollar question is, WHO SUCKS LESS, comprende? Thank you.

Are Biden Harris the best alternative to trump that the Dem parry has to offer us ?

An irrelevant question.

Is Trump the best alternative to Biden that the Republican Party has to offer?

Don’t compare Biden to the almighty, just compare him to the alternative.

For those who believe betting sites can be predictive, Trump has not been a bigger favorite over Biden.

By the way, right before the 2016 election, Hillary was the overwhelming favorite among betting sites.

And Trump had the better odds to win the 2020 election over Biden among betting sites.

How did those work out?

I hope Russia isn’t paying you for your posts because if they are, they’re wasting their money.

For you and the usual suspects I'll make a wild prediction. If either trump or biden , assuming Joe remains the nominee, falls and can't get up, or worse, ten days prior to the election, the other guy will win. Have a grand day.

Are Biden Harris the best alternative to trump that the Dem parry has to offer us ?

That's the wrong question. At least the wrong question right now, because that's who we've got. One could turn the question around as well - is Trump the best alternative to Biden the GOP can offer us? It's still the wrong question.

Most Americans don't want a Trump Biden rematch, do you pay attention at all ?

Quite possibly correct, but still unimportant because we have a rematch whether we want it or not. And apparently we want it, because that's who we voted for in the primaries.

The 64 BILLION dollar question is, WHO SUCKS LESS, comprende?

There you go. That's the question.

And if you value living in a free country, the answer is Biden. Trump will spend his four years in office seeking revenge against his domestic enemies, coddling autocratic dictators around the world, alienating those countries who have been our allies, and turning the United States of America into a s*hole country that he decries, all because he doesn't have the slightest idea how to run a country.

A half eaten ham sandwich sucks less than Trump.

No idea. Don't watch the show (or MSNBC) but I do see people talking about one guest in particular this morning, Ramin Setoodeh, who wrote Apprentice in Wonderland and repeatedly interviewed Dementia Don.

"I got to know Donald Trump post-presidency... and Trump had severe memory issues. As the journalist who spent the most time with him, he couldn't remember things, he couldn't even remember me."

Not surprising.

Dementia Don couldn't remember the name of his doctor, the pastor of the Black church he was sitting alongside, and mistakenly identified E. Jean Carroll as his second wife.

But president Biden wears funny shoes.

That is the 64K question. Who causes more damage?

I assure the you the conclusion is not unanimous. Many bright people have moved over to the Trump camp publicly recently. In fact, both will try and buy votes with our money up until the actual election. Let's hope for a split. Trump with no income taxes for special growups and Biden throwing money at student debt.

I can't say definitively that Trump is worse.

They are both bad! Down right awful.

But it is not clear to me which is worse?

I also like John Oliver's take on things most times.

I assure the you the conclusion is not unanimous.

I'm painfully aware of that.

Many bright people have moved over to the Trump camp publicly recently.

OK, I'll bite. Name 3. Name 3 bright people who have recently moved over to the Trump camp.

In fact, both will try and buy votes with our money up until the actual election. Let's hope for a split. Trump with no income taxes for special growups and Biden throwing money at student debt.

But that's one policy difference.

I can't say definitively that Trump is worse.

Not on this particular policy point. But you're looking at the wrong thing.

Trump has clearly said that if he is re-elected, his focus will be on getting revenge against his political enemies. He has said he wants to be a dictator. He has never said he will accept the results of the election, after being asked the question pretty unambiguously. He didn't accept the results of the 2020 election, choosing instead to attempt to subvert the results by any means possible. These are not just anti-democratic things, they are anti-American things. They rip to shreds the ideals spelled out in the Constitution.

For most people I know who are opposed to Trump, this is the only thing that matters. He has already put his own best interests ahead of those of the country. There is no reason to think he won't do the same thing again given the opportunity.

The difference that matters to most people opposed to Trump isn't a difference of economic policy or domestic policy or foreign policy. It is the difference in how the two men approach basic respect for the Constitution. Biden has a demonstrated history of abiding by the Constitution and supporting it, even when it is personally difficult. Trump has a demonstrated history of ignoring the Constitution when that gets in the way of what is best for Donald Trump.

But it is not clear to me which is worse?

It should be crystal clear at this point which one is worse. Not on economic policy, but on maintaining the Democratic Republic that we have lived under for almost 250 years.

I've opined before that I prefer a half eaten ham sandwich as President over Trump. So while I would prefer someone better than Harris as a VP, I still find her preferable to the guy who loses to a ham sandwich. She has certainly served with adequate distinction in her 3+ years in office.

There have been a few questionable folks who were VPs that did remarkably well when called on to take the big chair. Teddy Roosevelt. Harry Truman. Lyndon Johnson. I'm sure Harris would do just fine if called upon.

This is exactly the opposite of what Trump stated in his interview with Hannity. He was actually very articulate and stated that he was not interested in revenge. That pursuing revenge would be bad for America. There is evidence that he believes this because he gave Hillary a pass the first time. He also said that he was prepared to go to jail to make his points.

In the end I believe that Biden is as big a liar as Trump. However, in Biden's situation he has highjacked the whole justice department with him down his path of lies. I no longer trust any information coming from almost any government agency. Look at the Biden PC crap. High ranking government employees openly lying because they are more interested in winning than Truth.

I may vote for Trump just because he will free the Jan 6 "victims" that have been prosecuted by the Biden team. These jail terms are not commensurate with the "crimes". At least he will address a big injustice IMO.

A few clear thinking bright people supporting Trump.

This is exactly the opposite of what Trump stated in his interview with Hannity.

Really?
https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/4710769-trum...

On Tuesday, Trump told Newsmax it was “very possible” Democrats could face prosecution down the road. The next day, he told Sean Hannity on Fox News he would have “every right to go after them” after his own prosecution.

Trump on Thursday called for members of the House special committee that investigated the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol to be indicted, then told Dr. Phil McGraw in an interview that “sometimes revenge can be justified.”

...

The former president has routinely suggested it would be fair game to target his opponents ever since he was indicted last year in cases in New York, Florida, Georgia and Washington, D.C.

Fox News host Sean Hannity asked Trump if he would “pledge to restore equal justice, equal application of our laws,” and “end this practice of weaponization?”

“Well, you have to do it. But it’s awful. Look, I know you want me to say something so nice,” Trump said. “But I don’t want to look naive.”

Phil McGraw, host of the TV show “Dr. Phil,” suggested to the former president he didn’t have time to “get even” with his critics.

“Well, revenge does take time, I will say that,” Trump responded. “And sometimes revenge can be justified, Phil, I have to be honest. Sometimes it can.”

-----------------------------------------
Next topic:

A few clear thinking bright people supporting Trump.

Bill Ackman, Steve Schwarzman, Chamath Palihapitaya, David Sacks.

Look at that! You should have a chat with Dopey. He seems incapable of such simple things.

So, let's take a closer look at these folks.

Bill Ackman. Billionare hedge fund manager.
Steven Schwarzman. Billionare chair and CEO of the Blackstone Group.
Chamath Palihapitaya. Entrepreneur, Businessman, Venture Capitalist.
David Sacks. Buddy of Chamath, Tech Entrepreneur, Investor.

All fantastically rich. All would like to curry favor with Trump to keep on Trump's good side. All probably don't like Biden's ideas on taxation, particularly increasing taxes on the rich. Can't necessarily blame them for that.

But I'm going to pick on Sacks. Why? Because he Xhitted out his reasons for supporting Trump. And they really aren't the product of clear thinking. They're just a repetition of right wing mantra ideas which are generally false. He didn't like Biden's continuation of Covid stimulus. Apparently the stimulus was OK when Trump did it but not when Biden did it. Blames inflation on Biden. Blames US debt on Biden. Doesn't like Biden's backing of Ukraine against Russia. Apparently he likes Russia better. Blames Biden for border issues, completely ignoring the fact that Trump had two years of a friendly Congress to do something about the border and failed. But worst of all, he buys into the Lawfare garbage.

So I question his clear thinking, at least politically. On the other hand, I suspect he's thinking very clearly about his personal economy, as are all of the folks on your list.

Some have suggested that Trump is trying to create an American Oligarchy similar to the one in Russia. While I'm not sure I completely buy that, this list of supporters certainly should make one think about that possibility.

Gator1984: There is evidence that he believes this because he gave Hillary a pass the first time.

You're woefully misinformed. We've discussed this here before:

President Trump on Friday pressured the Department of Justice 'and specifically the FBI' to investigate Hillary Clinton, ticking through a slew of issues involving the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee and her party, and urging law enforcement to 'do what is right and proper.'

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/...

'At one point in the spring of 2018, Trump instructed [former White House Counsel] Don McGahn to direct [former Attorney General Jeff] Sessions to prosecute Clinton and Comey and, if the attorney general refused, said he would do it himself as president...'

https://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/36539...

Gator1984: However, in Biden's situation he has highjacked the whole justice department with him down his path of lies.

Right. New York juries unanimously found that Donald Trump sexually assaulted E Jean Carroll and committed 34 felonies by falsifying business records to conceal a $130,000 hush money payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels to influence the outcome of the 2016 election.

The House Judiciary Committee already went down that road of connecting the Biden administration to those state indictments and came to a dead end: Biden's DOJ had no connection to those prosecutions.

Gator1984: I may vote for Trump just because he will free the Jan 6 "victims" that have been prosecuted by the Biden team. These jail terms are not commensurate with the "crimes". At least he will address a big injustice IMO.

Well, let's hear from one of the Jan 6 defendants, Leo Brent Bozell IV:

The younger Bozell turned to apologize to two Capitol police officers sitting in the courtroom gallery before U.S. District Judge John Bates sentenced him to three years and nine months behind bars. He also told his parents and wife that he has “put a stain on my family forever.”

“I don’t recognize that person in the videos,” he said. “I don’t know what I was thinking.”

At the urging of then-president Trump, Bozell made plans to go to the Capitol on Jan. 6 and anticipated violence. Bozell used a metal object to shatter the windowpane of the Senate Wing Door. After climbing through the smashed window, Bozell joined other rioters in chasing a Capitol Police officer, Eugene Goodman, up a staircase to an area where other officers confronted the group. He breached at least seven police lines before he was finally escorted out of the Capitol after more than an hour, after rummaging through Speaker Pelosi's office and the Senate chamber.

Poor guy. He was just a tourist, dontchaknow.

Look hard at the belief system you have.

SNIP Three years after the Capitol attack, federal judges in Washington have sentenced more than half of the roughly 1,200 people charged in the largest investigation in U.S. history and have handed down lighter punishments for Jan. 6 assault convictions compared with similar assault cases nationally, a Washington Post analysis shows.
Fast, informative and written just for locals. Get The 7 DMV newsletter in your inbox every weekday morning.

Judges have ordered prison time for nearly every defendant convicted of a felony and some jail time to about half of those convicted of misdemeanors.

But in the vast majority of the more than 700 sentencings to date, judges have issued punishments below government guidelines and prosecutors’ requests. Though more than 60 percent of the defendants sentenced so far have received jail or prison terms, the judges have gone below federal sentencing guidelines in 67 percent of the cases, Post data shows. Nationally, federal judges go below the advisory guidelines about 51 percent of the time, according to federal statistics.

As Capitol riot prosecutions enter their fourth year, here is a look at what has happened to defendants so far. SNIP

https://www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2024/01/05...

You need to recalibrate. I'm happy with the light sentences for those who appear to have just been there. But there were plenty of people who were not "just there". I'm happy with the long sentences for top folks in the Oathkeepers or Proud Boys. I want to keep them there as a big sign post - TRUMP F'ED THEM! WATCH OUT! Trump could have issued blanket pardons and specific pardons. Whey didn't he? He was worried about his own ass is why. And you want to vote for him for this reason? Explicative Deleted.

On one hand Gator1984 proffers Bill Ackman as a 'clear, bright thinking person." That clear, bright thinking person is perpetuating the MAGA lies that are based on dishonestly and maliciously edited videos.

On the other hand we have the statement of Germany's Chancellor Scholz, who just spent several intense days with Biden and the G7 leaders. Chancellor Scholz said Biden is “very clear,” “among the most experienced leaders in the world,” and someone who “knows exactly what he’s doing.”

Hmmm. Who to believe? Gator1984's list of hedgefund managers and assorted billionaires looking forward to even more tax cuts, deregulation ad greater profits for their moneyed clientele... or the leaders of the free world?

Tough call? Not even close.

Actually, the most alarming part of Oliver's show was the details about Project 2025. If any conservative embraces that, and gets into power (including, but not limited to, Trump), that would spell the end of our democracy. Part of that "project" would be to classify a huge chunk of the civil service as "political appointees", whom then can be chosen (or removed) based on "loyalty", not competence or experience. THAT is when you get government that resembles Russia or China, or even DPRK.

Everything would collapse.

As I said, this isn't limited to Trump. If he loses in November, they'll just rename it "Project 2029". That is a democracy-ending document, if enacted.
