The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

While giving a speech to the NRA, Trump bragged that nothing was done about guns while he was president. He bragged like it was a huge accomplishment. He was proud of it.

Now to the NRA (a gun manufacturers lobbying group) of course they are happy that nothing was done about guns under his watch.

Even to his cult members, they are not going to see anything wrong with him bragging that nothing was done about guns when he was president. They are a cult after all. Whether it is shooting someone on 5th Ave, hiding top secret documents and lying about it, or trying to overturn a free and fair election, they won't say anything because they belong to a cult.

But that is not how most of middle of the road Americans in swing states that have had large mass shootings in recent years are going to take it. Pennsylvania, Florida, Nevada, etc are all going to see commercials about the famous mass shooting(s) that took place in their state and then see Trump bragging about how he is proud that nothing was done about guns during his presidency.

The GOP is already going to struggle with suburban women voters over abortion. I am sure they are going to completely understand why the GOP is bragging about doing nothing about guns in the face of all of the school shootings.
