The latest big news is Lake’s declining to defend her statements about Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer (R), whom she repeatedly accused of deliberately sabotaging her narrow 2022 loss for Arizona governor. (Courts have repeatedly rejected that argument and upheld Lake’s defeat.)
As The Washington Post’s Yvonne Wingett Sanchez and Maegan Vazquez reported Tuesday, lawyers for Lake, her campaign and an affiliated nonprofit group have asked the judge to move directly to the damages phase — determining whether Lake owes Richer money, and if so, how much.
The situation is strikingly reminiscent of Giuliani’s defamation case eight months ago. Facing an arduous and expensive discovery process — during which Giuliani’s legal team had to produce evidence — Giuliani ultimately simply granted that his statements about Georgia election workers Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss were false and even defamatory, before the huge judgment against him. It's not easy to sustain the big lie, but the MAGAs will never give it up, no matter how much proof is shoved under their noses.

If she's will to go directly to damages, that at least implies she knows she was spewing BS. But I'll be she'll continue when she campaigns next time. I believe she has her eye on a Senate seat. Which is probably good news for the Dems, since she is as bad (or worse) than McSally, who lost both Senate seats to Dems. As long as the Dems don't choose someone hopeless, they'll likely retain the seat that Sinema is vacating. I think Kelly's seat is probably secure for now.

Oh yeah...I forgot Gallego had announced. Lake is all kinds of crazy, so it's a given that I'll vote for anyone but her. So I don't really have to pay attention.
Yes, he's a good candidate. Already in Congress representing a large chunk of Phoenix, not crazy, a serious candidate who talks about actual issues. He seems to be pretty competent.
Though his campaign website might want to tone down the "relentless challenges" to democracy by Republicans language. Arizona is still very RED. It would be better if he attacked the undemocratic (lower-case 'd') attacks by Republicans (including Lake) rather than attacking Republicans in general. At least that is my thought. I'm not a professional campaign manager or spin artist, so maybe I'm missing some strategic nuance.
