Just check any old cemetery in New England from the 17th century to find a husband buried next to his numerous wives.

Jump forward a century and a half and 600 miles West.

Same thing here in Michigan.

It doesn’t seem like the problem (which was the norm for millennia) resolves itself until well into the 20th century.

Now women outlive us, and one woman often buries two or three husbands…. And that cruel calculation is evident to anyone who has visited nursing homes on even an occasional basis…. but it seems like Republicans are hellbent on reversing that modern trend in order to restore things as god intended them to be.
