The week's question
In December 2024, in the thread "Re: BRK: Why Not XOM?", BreckHutHigh asked the members: "What about the long road trips with kids?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

bighairymike: So, Komrad, you agree that the Ministry of Truth should control the news.

I know, it isn't news when it's a lie and who better than the government to decide what is a lie...

Okay. If what I provided upthread was insufficient, then here is what senator Schumer said of the letter he and Leader Jeffries wrote to Fox and what he was addressing in the Berman interview you quoted:

"Rupert Murdoch, owner of Fox News, acknowledged in a deposition that hosts of the network promoted the false narrative that Donald Trump won the 2020 election. Asked if he could have stepped in to prevent this, Mr. Murdoch acknowledged that he could have but chose not to ... This morning, Leader Jeffries and I wrote a letter to Mr. Murdoch demanding that he do what he should have done a long time ago: order Tucker Carlson and other hosts on Fox News to stop spreading lies about the election. They need to stop giving a platform to dangerous and entirely unfounded conspiracy theories that eat at the wellspring of our democracy."

Schumer was not complaining about other programming, but only about the network knowingly lying about the 2020 election results and continuing to knowingly promote debunked conspiracy theories about the election that, in private, they themselves laughed about and described as "really crazy stuff".

Fox knew it was lying on every program in its lineup and it knew it was not reporting the news.
