Over at the other power vertical, the one tasked with digital authoritarian capture, Musk has “Big Balls,” aka Edward Coristine, an architect of the data thefts. His grandfather, Valery Fedorovich Martynov, was a KGB agent in the technical espionage division of the Soviet Embassy in Washington DC —an interesting continuity of interests and skills.
I swear, what is it with these guys and Russians? Everywhere you look when Trump’s inner circle is around, Russians are tumbling out of closets and falling out of trees. I doubt that anyone is able to walk in the White House without tripping over a Russian.
And for some reason, huge sections of the American public continue to believe it’s a hoax.
Why of course! Donald Trump, Gateway Pundit and Breitbart tell me it’s a hoax!
And Gateway Pundit and Breitbart have their own stable of Russians under wraps.
Russians all the way down.
“Russia! Russia! Russia!”
Indeed.
The power of propaganda at work.

Your Soviet friends - the ones you cheered on during the 80's seem to have been hard at work.
And patient.
good!
They are better at inflicting......punishment.
BAAAAAAA and your lack of common culture, lack of civics and history pride, tribalism, all brought on partially by your attitudes and policies have made it so that IF your Soviet friends are blitzing you from within, you can barely get a plurality of your so-called citizens to unite against it.
I'M WINNING.

Friedman had an interesting thought question. If Trump actually was a Russian agent or being subject to blackmail, what would he be doing differently?

He'd be acting more like Carter, Clinton, and Obama.
For starters.
And he'd get rid of all weaponry so the Liberals of the 80's could be content that Reagan's defense build up has been vanished.
He'd see Crimea taken - and do nothing.
For starters......

So we're getting a hostile takeover engineered by the Russians, do we get to see who gets what in the end or will we be guessing. My bet, guessing. But some things will be so big we should know who the final owner will be.
National Parks? There's a ton of badlands that were scoured out by the floods from the glaciers. About 40 mass fkoods. Hope we can hinder this enough where the damage is minimal in four years.

So if an innocent Muslim person has relatives associated with extremist groups (or, freedom fighter groups as I now believe them to be), does that mean we single them out too?
Or is it just ok to racially profile Russians - in addition to whites ---now.

None of whom unilaterally disarmed America as Trump just did on the cyberbattlefield.

If it was just one Russian, you’d be absolutely correct, even if that relative Russian was an operative for the KGB.
But it’s not just one Russian operative for Russian intelligence services, it’s boatloads of them. And they surround many of Trump’s inner circle and Trump himself. And many of the Trump friendly media outlets have been found to be pushing Russian disinformation.

And many of the Trump friendly media outlets have been found to be pushing Russian disinformation.During the Zelenskyy meeting Trump said, "Let me tell you, Putin went through a hell of a lot with me. He went through a phony witch hunt."
And when Trump says "phony witch hunt" he's referring to The Mueller report — which found that the Russian government DID interfere in the 2016 presidential election
"in sweeping and systemic fashion" and that there were "links" between Trump campaign officials and individuals with ties to the Russian government.
And who remembers the time Trump sent COVID-19 tests to Putin during the pandemic. It's important to note that this occurred during a time when there was a shortage of testing supplies in the US.
Kamala Harris said it best, "People in America were struggling to get tests, and this guy is sending them to Russia, to a murderous dictator for his personal use."
The US market is tanking, but Russian stocks are soaring! Why is he making Russia Great Again?

They swallowed the disinformation that Hegseth ordered a pause in cyber activities on the Russians. That was false and was never even remotely a possibility but reality doesn't stop them from losing their minds.

And yet we have always maintained our strategic nuclear force sufficient to deter Russia from launching a first strike and sufficient to destroy Russia if it did.
Both of those have been true and continue to be true, in spite of all the nuclear super-weapons that Putin says he has

Yeah. And? You libs hated Reagan and the Mx missile, hated Star Wars, and generally wanted to roll over back then. Everything the left does is 100% performative because no one is that emotionally unstable.

It’s almost as if you received your characterization directly from FOXNews and then you get angry when someone tells you you are full of shit.
Talk to real people for a change, not to your own caricature of “you people”.
Because when you do that, the only person you’re talking to is your own hand.

It was Carter that started the Military build up and that was acknowledged by Reagan.
President Reagan today publicly acknowledged that his predecessor, President Carter, had recognized the need to rebuild the nation's armed forces.
At the same time Mr. Reagan, in his weekly radio speech, called on Congress to streamline the way it appropriated money for the Defense Department. The President said he agreed with a Presidential commission that there must be ''a better, more efficient way'' to handle military spending.
The highlight of the speech, however, was his conciliatory words about Mr. Carter. The former President has charged that Mr. Reagan ''habitually'' misstated his record on military modernization.
Mr. Reagan said today, ''When we first took office we inherited a Navy that had shrunk from nearly 1,000 ships to less than 500, and planes that couldn't fly for want of spare parts.'' Carter Proposal Cited
''My predecessor had called attention to this and had proposed a five-year expansion of the defense budget,'' Mr. Reagan continued. Recently, Mr. Reagan telephoned The New York Times and told a reporter that he felt ''very bad'' about Mr. Carter's criticisms, and he praised the former President's record on military preparedness.

Reagan was the one that really got things going, much to the chagrin of Soviet-appeasing leftists.
In fact, some of them even sent envoys to talk to Moscow!
https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2006/oct/27/2...Most Democrats and much of the left were universally opposed to Mr. Reagan’s plan, which they argued would lead to nuclear war. Heading the list of critics was Mr. Kennedy, who had, according to the Soviet letter, sent former Sen. John V. Tunney to meet with Kremlin leaders. Chebrikov writes that Mr. Kennedy “charged Tunney to convey the following message, through confidential contacts, to… Andropov.”
According to the letter, Mr. Kennedy was concerned with “Reagan’s belligerence,” which he felt was in part the result of the president’s popularity. “The only real threats to Reagan are problems of war and peace and Soviet-American relations,” wrote Chebrikov, relaying Mr. Tunney’s message. “These issues, according to [Mr. Kennedy], will without a doubt become the most important of the [1984] election campaign.”
The letter goes on to say how Mr. Kennedy felt that the Soviets’ peaceful intentions were being “quoted out of context, silenced or groundlessly and whimsically discounted.” Conversely, Mr. Reagan “has the capabilities to counter any propaganda.” In other words, if the letter is to be believed, Mr. Kennedy felt his own president was the real aggressor.Yeah.

If you read the first few paragraphs, it’s kind of a mixed bag. They report that Hesgeth ordered U.S Cyber Command to stand down from all planning against Russia. They also stated that the order did not apply to the National Security Agency.
Trump’s infatuation with Russia is frightening. Our usual allies will not share sensitive intelligence with us (who can blame them. Tulsi Gabbard? Seriously?). This makes us less safe.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/pentagon-h...The Pentagon on Tuesday denied reports that Pete Hegseth has ordered US Cyber Command to cease its cyberoffensive against Russia, the Hill reports. "TO BE CLEAR: @SecDef has neither canceled nor delayed any cyber operations directed against malicious Russian targets and there has been no stand-down order whatsoever from that priority," reads a statement posted to X. A Pentagon official had previously declined to comment on the reports other than to say, "There is no greater priority to Secretary Hegseth than the safety of the Warfighter in all operations to include the cyber domain."No one is 'pausing' cyber activities with respect to the Russians. They're the #2 bad actor on the planet.

Weren't you just telling us that the Russian army is not a threat? A broken down bunch of rusted tanks and planes?
US officials tell CBS News that Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has issued an order to US Cyber Command to suspend planning against Russia for now, including any offensive digital initiatives. It's not clear what spurred the directive, and the New York Times notes that the "precise scope and duration of the Defense Department order is not clear, as the line between offensive and defensive cyberoperations is often a blurry one."
The next paragraph guesses that the pause may be due to the negotiations.

Thanks to Ukraine, that is true. They won't be able to threaten Europe for a generation or more, so long as NATO is intact (even without the US). But they still have nukes, and they have cyber-criminals, and can cause a lot of havoc without their army. So, I would agree that they are in the top 3 bad actors on the planet (I won't debate who is #1...doesn't matter; they're all major problems).
