albaby1: So, they argue that Biden should step down, so that Democrats have to defend and support Biden.

Also, it's possible that republicans want to establish that Harris was hiding Biden's diminishing mental acuity and putting the nation's security at risk. In committee today, republicans badgered Chris Wray trying to get him to admit president Biden was incapable of remaining president. Wray said, no, he hadn't noticed any changes in the president's attentiveness or comprehension skills and that, yes, he had briefed the president outside of the 10 AM and 4 PM time window republicans claimed were Biden's limited work hours.

The republicans were sad.
