Our moron in chief has shut down the Medicaid portals in all 50 states.
https://www.healthcaredive.com/news/medicaid-payme...Some 72 million Americans rely on Medicaid for their health care needs. That's 1 in 5. Pretty much everyone here likely knows someone receiving Medicaid benefits.
Brilliant move, Trump. Brilliant.
Probably illegal, too. But what's new about that? I'm sure court cases are already being drafted asking for an immediate injunction.
This also gets personal to me. My son is disabled and relies on Medicaid for his health care. I'm trying to remain calm, as I'm fairly sure that those court cases will be filed and an injunction issued today or tomorrow. But part of me would love to see it stick for a week or so so that people on Medicaid who voted for him will feel some very direct pain. That is the only way some people will learn. We need as much learning as we can get.

I remember that from TMF.
My MIL also relies on Medicaid (and Medicare) for her medical needs. She is blind, had to have hearing aids as of about 2 years ago, and has kidney cancer**.
Her knees also aren't great (one of them has persistent swelling).
However, if you really want to get the budget under control without a tax increase, you have to slash SS, Medicare, and Medicaid. They are the lion's share of the budget.
I favor the tax increase, at least to the levels when Reagan left office in 1988.
**They aren't operating because it is so slow growing that they think she will expire from natural causes before it will become a problem.

in a post today, i concluded MAGA are far beyond negative attribution to trump & gop, even for critical issues.
and i believe trump is mostly past caring about MAGA, other than reflexive blame elsewhere, which in no way endangers every possible grift.
when a nation becomes too wealthy, the thieves migrate to the largest opportunities in the guise of normal politics and capitalism.

Well, this kind of stuff gives it to Democrats in 2028 providing you people don't do the he/him nonsense.

Actually, the conservatives are the ones making an issue of he/him, etc. And quite successfully in some quarters. Despicable on their part, but apparently good politics (i.e. gained them more votes than it lost them).
But, yes, stuff like this will give it to them Dems in 2028, so long as people remember. They didn't seem to remember 2017-2020 when voting in 2024. People's memories are short, and the brief period of inflation was fresher in their minds. Hopefully, in 2028, people will still remember this excrement storm. (And it's only the first week...we've got four more years of this.)

I love how I can *instantly* look in the mirror and say "hey guys, this is gonna screw us"
But after multiple Trump losses - you can't.
Extremists - from Kabul to Berlin to Oklahoma City - all the same. Won't give an inch. Can't smell their own shit.

I want people to remember it in 2026 to flip both houses of Congress.

dont count it. this is the start of trump year 5, not month 1.
in nixon mold, trump is (spray)tanned, demented, and ready.
MAGA suddenly grows the power of logic & reason, discerning propaganda over the core of identity and their very existence?
or vote-eligible gop offspring, after full formative years indoctrination?

It may personally effect me too. My older sister is bedridden and medicare covers a portion of her care. So somewhere down the road I might end up with a bad choice if this keeps up.
