Yes, they are extending the life of that (excellent) airframe to perform as a "missile truck". Stands off and unloads lots of missiles. Not stealthy, but that's less important if you're over your own territory. Plus, the F35 (for example) can get closer to the enemy target and transmits targeting information to the F15, which then unleashes missiles from a larger distance.
