...away from Texas and towards Arizona and California.
https://twitter.com/BillMelugin_/status/1753109462...

NEW: The large majority of illegal crossings at the southern border are now happening in AZ & CA, as a shift away from TX continues.

Per CBP sources, over the last week of January, Border Patrol apprehended 32,809 illegal immigrants.

23,576 of them (71.8%) were in AZ & CA.

Notably, the numbers in TX’s Del Rio sector, which includes Eagle Pass, have fallen off a cliff. In December, the sector saw days of 3,000-4,000 illegal crossings per day. Over the last week, it has averaged around just 200. This is happening due to two reasons:

Texas has locked things down on their side of the border, and Mexico has increased enforcement against migrants arriving in the MX state of Coahuila following Sec. of State Antony Blinken’s visit to MX in December. Mexico is now suddenly stopping migrants from boarding trains, and is removing migrants from their northern border down to their southern border following that meeting. And the migrants who do cross there now find a very unwelcoming posture from the state of TX with legions of soldiers, troopers, and razor wire, & threat of arrest. It is unknown what the US offered MX in return for this cooperation.

However, the Mexican government enforcement has not happened in other areas of the border, and Border Patrol’s San Diego sector and Tucson, AZ sector are now seeing the most activity.

You CAN take action to reduce crossings. This isn't that hard.

And it proves that physical barriers do work. Especially when backed up by a serious commitment to their oath to protect their state, as demonstrated by Greg Abbott.

Mexico is now suddenly stopping migrants from boarding trains, and is removing migrants from their northern border down to their southern border following that meeting.

Sep 22, 2023 Mexican officials pledged Friday to set up checkpoints to “dissuade” migrants from hopping freight trains to the U.S. border.

Sep 20, 2023 A company which operates some of Mexico's railways has suspended 60 of its routes after a surge of migrants hitching rides on freight trains. Ferromex said services would be halted on the trains travelling towards Mexico's border with the US, in order to "avoid accidents or loss of life".

Also illegal physical barriers, however, if you want to codify it into the law, and in such a way the courts are unlikely to say it's illegal, I'm OK with it.

Mexico is proving this assistance why and why now? Could it be that Obrador is doing what he can to take the heat off of Biden for the purpose of helping Biden beat Trump? That would be in Mexico's interest, Biden means more immigrants and more immigrants means that more money will be flowing South, to support their their families or to their cartel partners. Under Trump, some of that money train is more likely to be disrupted.

I admit this is speculative, but if not for the money train, why is Obrador suddenly giving Biden this support? What is in it for him?

For me, ascertaining motives is an important part of parsing and assessing the veracity of the snake oil pitch that someone is giving.

Because Obrador is savvy and Biden is an idiot.
Obrador knows that
1. Biden is getting creamed in the media and in the polls over this issue
2. If Trump wins, he'll have the political support to close the border and then MEXICO gets to deal with all the migrants themselves

Therefore, he's going to understand that he has leverage over Biden but very little to none over Trump.

He has a chance to con Biden for several billion dollars in assistance and would be willing to help stem the flow...up until November. Just long enough to help JB win.

libs don't mind foreign interference in elections...not one bit.

Read these two articles:

https://www.cfr.org/article/back-future-us-mexican...

https://archive.is/20240103074353/https://foreignp...

Those two should be enough to give you a beginning feel for what is going on. Remember, Mexico exports ~500 billion a year to the US.

If that isn't enough, I posted multiple meetings between the Biden 'Administration and the President going back to 2021. If you copy the first couple of sentences in each one, google it, it will take you to the article. Skim the article, go onto the next one.

If you can, read more foreign policy and diplomacy articles on Mexico and AMLO. Think it over and come to your own conclusion, but you'll ralize there is no "suddenly".

Well I read the first one. Whew, that was really dense information-wise. I need to read it again to soak up more of the historical contexts.

It really was a unique perspective on the history and evolution of Mexican governance, but I didn't find any reference to a Biden-Obrador partnership.

Biden's name was only mentioned twice and here is the reference to Biden's approach toto Mexico relations....

That was the view in the United States for many decades, and was the approach taken by the Trump administration—which cared mostly for Mexico’s cooperation on migration issues. It also appears to be the approach of the Biden administration, despite its rhetoric....

"..... ascertaining motives is an important part of parsing and assessing the veracity of the snake oil pitch that someone is giving."

It also spawns conspiracy theories.
It's hard to keep up with the stream of conspiracy theories generated by the likes of MAGA and Qanon, especially when the leader is an orange rapist who retweets them with glee.
