Can you link an article? There has been a lot of talk recently about a Chinese submersible that is capable of cutting cables. But -so far- I haven't heard they used it.

That, arguably, could be regarded as an act of war, given our dependence on global communications and information.

as far as China - indeed. I wonder where they got so much money, so much knowhow from. Beats me. I was one of the few against Permanent Normalized Trade relations and WTO for China and I had loudly wished the fundraising scandals (Charlie Trie, Johnny Huang, etc) had been dug into along with missing secrets at Los Alamos.

But, hey, anything from fast food chains to EVs to SmartPhones....somehow China makes that stuff now and they are so similar to stuff made in a certain other country. And somehow they had this huge rich market to sell into.

In the end, i guess it's great. We got stock portfolios and cheap stuff...... what did they get?

Evne the most clueless american might start to realize.

I was always against opening trade with China (once I was old enough to understand it...I was pre-pubescent when Nixon went to China). And I spoke out vehemently against giving China MFN status. I still think we should revoke that.
