I think you don't know much about cities in Illinois.
Evanston is over 16% Black, 12% Latino, and 9% Asian. And Evanston recently voted to address and rectify the city's racially discriminatory housing practices and has sent its first reparations payments to residents.
Naperville is over 20% Asian and about 7% Latino.
And where'd you get Downers Grove? Okay, but not affluent.
Moreover, Naperville and Downers Grove are republican strongholds.
For future reference, try Winnetka, Kenilworth, Glencoe, Inverness, Lake Forest, or maybe Oak Brook... that's where the suburban wealthy live in Northern Illinois.

My mom used to own duplexes. She never asked about immigration status. She only cared if they were nice people and could pay the rent. She was fortunate she never had a bad tenant. There are lots of horror stories. She never checked credit, status, or anything else official.

Trouble is I stopped working about 3 years ago so really, no new investment capital coming in. But you NAILED the areas!! The towns you name would be so perfect for a certain kind of diversity. I used to live about 30 mins from the places you mention (in the 90s) so I totally concur.
For now, the tax free income and the added burden on Blue School Districts - suits me just fine.

In the real world - that leaves 63% as White 401K Liberals. Not only that....the black and latino and asian you mention, are FAR DIFFERENT than the residents that I would love to bring in.
In Fairfax County where I decided to do it a decade ago - it's even more diverse.
but the 6 figure diversity that pays huge property tax and doesn't require bilingual education and doesn't do crime is one thing.
The other kind - the ones that have literally costed Fairfax County money and aggravation - well - a tiny tiny part of that is from me :)

And you and Dope1 don't seem to understand the legislation or have not read the legislation.
This does not "bring in" anyone. This isn't an affordable housing bill. This simply prevents discrimination based on immigration status. Period.
Any renter or buyer will still have to come up with the cash to purchase that $1.2 million house or qualify for a $1.2 million loan just like any other buyer has to right now. Or a renter will still need to qualify to pay a $2,000-$3,000 monthly rental just like any other renter in Naperville or Evanston or Downers Grove.

If you have no problem with the legislation and didn't intend to imply this would somehow open the doors to forced diversity through affordable housing requirements, then why bring it here in the first place?
