Why did you leave off the first sentence of that quote?

This one: "The president tweeted on Friday after I got fired that I better hope there's not tapes.

Comey was no longer with the FBI. So in this case the FBI did not leak to reporters (that happened in 2016 by the FBI's New York Office personnel who did not like Clinton and leaked like a sieve).

Besides, it's not a crime to disclose the contents of conversations with the president, at least so long as those are not conversations involving classified information or national defense information.

The real irony here is that in harming Clinton and helping elect Trump, the FBI ended up with someone who did more damage to the FBI than anyone in history.
