POTUS can't "protect abortion". That's a legislative matter. So Congress would have to pass a law. Which isn't likely, unless we get Dem majorities in both houses (not likely).

The VP choice will be interesting. I'm assuming there will be an electoral college strategy, so likely someone from a key swing state.
