The Republicans have no viable healthcare plan.
Back on the AF board during the Obama years, we discussed that. You are correct, they have no viable healthcare plan because they are opposed to the very idea of it. They want less government, not more. The ACA was based on an alternative to Clintoncare from the 90s, partially conceived by the Heritage Foundation. The Reps didn't even want that, but they were hoping to torpedo Clintoncare (which they did). Obama took that up and modified it, hoping to get a few Reps to support it (and conservative Dems). Rather than implementing a Medicare-for-all system (which the Reps hated, and I think still do hate), which would have been vastly simpler and less expensive (Medicare has an overhead of something like 4%, where private insurance is at least twice that).
At this point repeal would be very unpopular. And I doubt we could morph it to Medicare-for-all because then the insurance companies would lose huge. And we can never allow a big lobby to lose money.
