Abbott just signed a law that allows TX authorities to pick up undocumented migrants.

I'm wondering if that law can stand. Immigration is a federal matter, not state. OTOH, while TX may not be able to deport them, is there anything from stopping them to have a law that states that it shall be illegal to cross an international border with Texas without proper documentation?

I have no idea. I can sorta see both side, from a legal perspective. But IANAL.
