My sojourn into understanding healthcare reduced my confusion, and I'm still confused, but at a much higher level than before. After discovering my wife was on ACA, and deciding to leave my wife on an ACA plan (Ambetter) to reduce OOPM (Out of Pocket Maximums) I ran into a major glitch. The nearest covered Gastroentologist is 2 hours away on her plan. From running the ACA plan browser I had already found all the affordable Florida plans were Ambetter so I was going to leave here there and changed my mind.
She has problems she's been working on, but I have FEPBlue - so I went down to basic (PPO) and added her for roughly the same amount of money we were paying for Ambetter. We live right next to a Hospital Facility surrounded by Doctors and Clinics that are all in Network and there are 6 Gastroentologists available to her.
None of the Florida Blue Agents know my plan, and my calls to Florida Blue gave me lack of confidence in the knowledge of customer service on my plan, my open season ends tomorrow, but I had to decide early. Now I read about healthcare, am concerned something will go on the chopping block under Musk, etc., and wonder why the fellow shot the CEO. Is there a healthcare forum I missed? I looked. Thanks for listening.
