Saw some thread or other here blasting is as stupid dumb orangemanbad yadda yadda earlier...but not everyone shares that opinion:
https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/busines...Most people think that most movies are still filmed on big sets in California. Many still are. But a ton more have picked up and gone north to Canada. Vancouver, specifically.
Yep...there's a cool Hallmark village up there that they repurpose for literally dozens of films. They also have loads of studios just south of town. When you take the Amtrak from VAN to Seattle you go right by them.
Anyway:
Crabtree-Ireland was the first out of the gate amongst Hollywood’s labor leaders to publicly respond to the notion that Trump put forward in a Truth Social post on Sunday. At the time, Trump called for a “100% tariff” on “any and all Movies coming into our Country that are produced in Foreign Lands.”Who else like this?
https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/business/busines...Hmm. Starting to make more sense now:
Teamsters Cheer Trump’s Movie Tariffs, Rip Studios For “Fleeing” America
In a joint statement, general president Sean O’Brien and motion picture division leader Lindsay Dougherty called the notion a “strong step toward finally reining in the studios’ un-American addiction to outsourcing our members’ work.”Of course, the reason why Hollywood pulled a lot of movies out of California has mostly to do with...California.
-dope, taking no position on the film tariff.
