So the parent who wants the history of slavery taught should be accommodated as should the parent who does not want the history of slavery taught. And on and on and on. - CO

It is not an issue of "Is it taught?" but rather How it is taught.

Balance = slavery was bad but significant progress has been made and is continuing.

The optimism of "You can succeed despite obstacles" vs the hopelessness of "You are doomed because whitey has his foot on your neck".
