One thought has been to infuse the atmosphere with benign particulates that might shade the earth from the sun. Believers in chemtrails have latched onto this as confirmation of their conspiracy theories. So some red states are moving to prevent this possible solution, likely inhibiting legitimate scientific exploration.

And yet they’re against the EPA having dominion over such things as regulating emissions from one state that cause acid rain in another. So my suggestion would be just to do the particulate experiments over, say, California and let it drift over Nebraska.

But truth be told, I am not in favor of this particulates solution, at least until the unintended consequences can be explored in excruciating detail. A more easily controlled solution, such as a giant umbrella (don’t laugh, it’s a consideration) would be more acceptable to me, at least as an experimental effort.

Perhaps AI will be useful in determining the possible results - and consequences - of the particulate solution, but in any event expect pushback, at least until summer temperatures are hot enough to wither the wheat and corn crop across the Midwest.
