The week's question
In March 2025, in the thread "Re: OT, out", Umm asked the members: "Do you think it is because America is made up of magical soil that makes businesses based in America magically profitable?" This week it is put to everyone again. The button below opens the small thread re-asking it - read what others have said so far, then give your own answer as an ordinary reply.

Thanks for the heads-up, looks like a good read. I still remember when GWB slashed the tax rate on dividends ( and cap gains maybe?, not quite sure about that ) and concluding that this will lead to tax revenue deficits, and remember being kind of pissed off that my blue collar W2 wage income wasn't being treated as favorably as the income generated by the investor class. But coming to this realization led to becoming a member of the investor-class, even if on a low rung of that ladder.

I read the Millionaire Next Door in the early 90s, I think, and it
totally made sense to me, but being practical and frugal was the way of life for my family.

I'm no longer impressed with being a millionaire. My other blue collar friends in the same boat feel the same way, still feel and act very much blue collar. I also learned a lot by reading intercst's posts on TMF, and his own Retire Early site. He definitely hits the nail on the head with his advice to minimize the skim.

Here's to hoping the American Dollar retains some semblance of purchasing power in my retirement years!
