Anyone ever been?

We are taking a cruise that has a stop here. I'm wondering if it's worth paying for a tour of the island, or it's really just a wander-around-town kinda port. I'm not seeing much of note so far in my research. Maybe there's a hidden gem somewhere?

Was there in 2017, loved it. Great public transportation, but to see a lot of the sights you may need to walk a bit.
Watching seals at the Toe of Man was nice, lots of coastal glens to explore, and hopefully they still have the old steam train.

So, would you recommend an organized tour? Or just wandering? We won't be renting a car (I don't drive in foreign countries, except Canada).

I have never done an organized tour on any of my trips, so maybe I'm a bit biased to just using their great bus system and wandering. The Isle is rather small so it doesn't take that long to get to most places by public transportation.
I didn't rent a car when we were there and didn't mind it at all (I usually do rent cars in foreign countries).
