I suspect because the right-wing tends towards "I got mine, you're on your own". Many think that if people have to fend for themselves, they'll straighten-up and fly-right (no pun intended). Many more (a majority?) think "I worked for my money, why should some of it be given to these freeloaders?!". The Goofus/Gallant theory we discussed on the Olde Boards.
By no means is the left free from corruption and graft. But I think the different mindsets may lessen it a bit on the left versus the right. And, yes, those with authoritarian mindsets would be even worse. Such as Trump.

Piliticians are corrupt because they are power hungry talentless unproductive hacks useless to society and they are keenly aware of it. So they grab all they can while they can, skirting or outright violating legality.
Clintons (Whitewater), Pelosi (with insider trading and she is not alone on left or right), the Luisiana Dem congressman with cash in the freezer (forgot name, early 2000s, caught by FBI), BLM foundation, Gavin "French Laundry" Newsom favoring restaurants in pandemic because he owns some, all the "reverends" lining up their pockets - I could go on. Democrats are massively corrupt too.
